Artist's Comments

I will be using Photoshop CS2 for this tutorial.

1. Go to layers > new adjustment layer > curves and click anywhere on the grid. Fill this in:
Input: 25
Output: 27
Now click anywhere on the grid again and fill this in:
Input: 205
Output: 216

2. Go to layers > new adjustment layer > selective colour. Select 'relative' and fill this in:
Neutrals: -10, -10, -10, -15
Blacks: -30, +5, +10, +25

3. Go to layers > new adjustment layer > colour balance and fill this in:
Shadows: -23, -3, -8
Midtones: -35, -16, -15
Highlights: -4, -5, -10

4. Duplicate your background layer and drag it to the top. Set it to soft light at 10%.

Now merge your layers and you're done!
